I’m Amanda. 39 years old. I was diagnosed in August 2020. My symptoms started getting really bad right as the world shut down in March 2020. So it took months for me to get into the doctor to get a diagnosis and by the time I got there, I was really really sick. Once I was diagnosed and on medication, I slowly started to improve. I made it through. I’m not going to lie it has been rough really rough but staying positive and having
The support of family and friends is what got me through this. I’m alive today living day by day as best as I can.
Hi Amanda, it’s great to see you here! Welcome! From your TicToks, I know that you’re still working. How’s that been for you? I returned to work a couple weeks ago and admittedly it’s been tough but I’m managing.
Yep still working away. Lol. That’s where I do a lot of my tick-tock‘s at. Some days are easier than others. I really do enjoy my job. And I know that eventually I’ll get worse and I’ll have to leave so I’m trying to just keep pushing through every day and keep coming to work while I still can.
Honestly, I don’t think I’d be able to go back if I took time off. I think that’s why I haven’t taken any disability leave or medical leave. My job does offer it.
I hope it get easier for you Mike. I’ll be sending you positive vibes.
Thanks for the positive vibes. Yeah, it was definitely tough going back but I’m grateful for having the time off. At the time when I took my leave, my off times were becoming unmanageable. My medical leave allowed me for some time to adjust my medication and do physical therapy which has helped.
Watching your TikTok’s as well as others who are still working helps to give me strength to continue working too.
I also have a fairly easy job so that makes it easier to work. And I have a great boss who is very understanding and great coworkers.
I think that eventually I’ll need to look at taking work leave. My symptoms are managed but they could be better. But it’s hard when you have to travel to another state to see your doctor and it takes months to get in.
But staying positive is what keeps me going.
