Hi.
New here. I’m 39 and was diagnosed earlier this year at 38 years with yopd. I’m on 1mg rasagiline/Azilect, 1 mg pramipexol and l/c 200-50. Further i take some supplements like 2 magnesium, and some b vitamins from the pharmacist.
Since a couple of months I have heavy legs, like they burn, feel 100 kg and they feel hard. It makes me also dizzy and feel sometimes unstable. I talked to my neurologist and he increased my l/c from 4 quarters a day to 4 halves a day. Further he prescribed pregabaline, 3 times a day 25mg. The increased L/c gave me diskenisia so I’m back off to 4 or 5 quarters a day. The pregabaline was working the first week but I have the feeling I’m back to the beginning. Today I took double of pregabaline and I was exhausted, dizzy and felt extreme fatigue. I have the feeling that l/c gives me the hard legs…could that be? Wouldn’t it be better to increase my agonist pramipexol? I feel desperate cause I m diagnosed 7 months and stil feeling more bad since I doubt my medication.
Hi. I’m in my eighth year of this and don’t remember ever having heavy legs, but I did have a tough time with ropinerole, which is similar to pramipexol. I thought I would respond to your note to say it gets better. I too felt worse after starting medication.
I never felt good with ropinerole in those early days. It caused me to feel very tired and like I had the flu for about 20 minutes. I dropped that drug and started taking Sinemet. I took Azilect for 2 years but my second doctor dropped it feeling there was no evidence of efficacy. I didn’t notice any change after stopping taking it.
Fast forward years later and my third doctor recently has me taking ropinerole overnight. No issues and actually less mg than the prescription eight years ago.
Everyone is different and I am not in the medical field, but for me, I feel I was over prescribed in the beginning. I take less prescribed medication today than I took in the beginning. Of course there are lots of other dynamics- I exercise a lot and take a few vitamins.
My 2 cents. Good luck.
