So, in researching (I do that a lot) I found out that I can take an air-conditioned, wifi’d, bathroomed BUS from Denver (station is 2 miles from where I live) to… Rocky Mountain National Park! My favorite place in the world!!! And it’s $11 round trip! No wear and tear on the jeep, expensive gas prices, and all the other annoyances. The bus drops me off at the visitor center where I pick up the hiker shuttle. No fuss, no muss! I plan on doing this about every y 5-10 days, until the snow makes the roads impassible!!! I may have a group of folks from my community going, as there are several trails that are wide, gravel trails, easy to navigate with a walker.
I’m SOOOO excited, just had to share - photo is from 5 years ago, but boy - what views!

Impressive that you’re still going for hikes!!! What a beautiful place to do so. Make sure to share lots of images of your trip please.
My husband and I used to hike in my earlier stages of Parkinson’s. We would like 16 miles a day in the mountains in British Columbia or Alberta Canada. My last hike was 10 years ago.

Having a dog certainly helps! It’s taking time, but slowly, I’m training her to be a good trail dog.

I have never been here and my husband keeps saying he is going to take me. This will be the year! I’'m a little scared of the cold though it makes my tremor worse.

what kind of dog do you have? Love to see a photo. This was my dog that I used to go hiking with. Her name was Uta she was a Bernese Mountain dog, and live to be the age of 10, which is older for this breed.

Esther, wear lots of layers that you can take things off as you get warmer. you can bring packets of instant handwarmers use wool socks or electric socks. Make sure to get gortex hiking shoes or boots. Use deodorant on your feet to keep them from getting sweaty so they don’t blister. before you go on any trips like this, make sure your shoes are well broken into . And also buy those compeed blister bandages in all different sizes.
You will be surprised if you are moving and walking, you won’t get cold.

Bernie dogs are adorable! Huge cuddle bugs! Breck is half dachshund, half pittie. Sweet as can be. She’s learning how to become a good trail dog, and walk on a loose leash next to me. It’s a little difficult, the first nine months of her life (she’s 11 months old now) were spent as a country dog with a huge fenced yard. No leash needed! She pulls, but as I work with her, that bad habit is going away. I use a gentle lead collar.

Thanks! Yes I’m going to need to get prepared.
Just ordered those blister pads thanks! My feet are always a mess
such a beautiful face! Does she have very short legs? That must be more of a challenge if she does when you’re hiking, their little legs have to move that much quicker and more.
make sure to read as many articles as you can about keeping your feet dry and not getting sweaty. That’s what causes blisters. My son was a cross country runner and they would put deodorant on for their feet to help. I swear by the blister bandages they have out now.
