I was Diagnosed 3 months ago my Neurologist told me to take my meds on a empty stomach c/l so I have been waiting 2 to 3 hrs with an empty stomach to take my meds. Wondering what you guys due ?
I only wait 30 minutes before eating to take my medicine. I read it in a medical journal can’t remember the name. Many people say to wait 2 hours. But the more you progress that is difficult. I take my medication every 3 hours so waiting 2 hours before eating makes difficult. I have had no issues waiting 30 minutes before or after eating.
Thank you for responding.
I also follow a 30 minute rule
I try to do the 30 minutes but I forget a lot my MDS said don’t worry too much about it in this early stage
This is a big surprise to me. My neurologist told me. Make sure you take it on an empty stomach. Because it has to enter your brain to your small intestine. So I wait 2 to 3 hours. You guys have really gave me some food for thought. No, pund intended lol
Does it make a difference? 30 minutes before a meal or 30 minutes after a meal.?
Shoot if I had to wait that long then I would be ready for my next dose. I wait 30 minutes before and after a meal. The less protein you eat the less likely it matters. Protein and the medication don’t work well together.
I intend to agree with you guys. I think I’m waiting too long. I’m going to give it a try I’ll start with 1 hour before or 1 hour after. I take one pill every 6 hours, so it does give me a lot of time. Thanks everyone for your input, it’s well appreciated.
I get horribly nauseous if I don’t take my C/L with food. I’m wondering if I should talk to my MDS about a different delivery method. None of you have nausea taking it on an empty stomach?
Try eating some crackers
My meal schedule usually puts me at 1 1/2-2 hrs prior to eating. That’s always worked good for me.
My Doc says one hour so I try to do one hour before eating and one hour after. just depends on what I eat. It’s my understanding protein can slow down absorption of the meds.
I had this problems my MDS added more Carbidopa and it went away
I hope you don’t get nausea from taking meds anymore! That was horrible for the first few months for me. I’m finally able to take meds on an empty stomach, I think. I’m too scared to try it consistently, but when things get busy I feel okay waiting a little bit to get a snack.
I can have nausea and sometimes heartburn when I take the meds. My MDS recommended 10 oz of water with each dose, crackers and a peppermint candy. I find the full size Altoids work best.
My neurologist said it doesn’t really matter but I notice better results when I wait 30 minutes
