I participated in Dr Kluger’s research project. You will see by the description below that his approach is redefining Palliateive Care for ppl with chronic disease. It’s no longer about end of life, but quality of life.
Palliative care is a holistic approach focused on improving the quality of life of people living with a chronic disease. It may include medical treatments, counseling, and other support. Research has shown that palliative care mitigates symptom burden and can possibly even lengthen life. We’ll hear from Benzi Kluger, MD, Director of Neuropalliative Care Service at the University of Rochester. He will discuss what palliative care is, why it’s important for people with Parkinson disease and related disorders, and how to take a more proactive approach to self-management.
