Putting on a jacket!

My dad has to have help getting on and taking off his jacket, his left arm just isn’t very cooperative, any suggestions? They have slip on shoes and easy belts, but just haven’t found a way to help with the lack of mobility to get his jacket on and off.

Does he start with the left arm, then use the better working right-side arm to pull the coat around? I searched on youtube using, “how to put on a coat after a stroke”. I used stroke because one side is normally affected. One recommends a dressing stick.

Thankyou so much! I was struggling with what to put in the searches! I asked him if he thought that sounded like a good thing to try and he said the other day when no one was home he used a arrow he had laying around to help so this will be a similar but much safer option!

I would agree a dressing stick would be a safer option than an arrow.

I hope the search terms help find more ideas.
