Testimony on the benefits of DBS

Today on Facebook, somebody posted a thoughtful testimonial on the benefits DBS:

For those that are about to get, or are questioning getting DBS, this is for you! Everybody (including me) talks about how “life changing” DBS is. So…I thought I would give a few examples and testimony on how it has improved my life.
To start, I no longer have tremors. No more dystonia .Much less meds. I can once again write with pen/pencil and not scribble. I can now easily write out a check. I can button a shirt with ease. Tie my shoes. I can easily cook my meals without worry. I live alone, so, no problems anymore. Last year I started traveling. I live in St. Louis area and in Sept. of 2022, flew ( by myself to New Orleans for a short vacation. This past summer, I flew to Seattle, where I boarded a Cruise ship for a weeklong Alaskan cruise through the Inside Passage and had a great time ( again… by myself) I have several more trips planned for next year. The best part was, that very few people realized that I had PD. I was “normal” to them.
These are just a few examples of how much better I am after having DBS! Yes! I still have my "OFF " days, but they are much better to deal with now.
So…If you are contemplating having DBS, I hope this helps!
Best of luck to everyone!

To travel by myself again is a total dream at this point. Some days I feel completely capable, others absolutely not. If only I could predict, or prepare enough to ensure success when I need it.

Where would you like to go? Would you be able to manage it if you give yourself extra time?

I would absolutely love to take a long cruise up the Alaskan coast. I promised my friend I’d have a champagne toast under the Aurora in his memory. It’s the trip we were dreaming about together. From here it seems possible., sometimes not as much.

It was actually a very wonderful process. I’ve had my first programming appointment and everything’s going really well. The only thing I have to complain about is that I now have some pain in my hand when opening and closing it and my elbow.I’m
